| Requirements and Responsibilities For Underwriting Supervisor - P&C |
| Supervises the team responsible for reviewing and analyzing property and casualty (P&C) insurance applications. Evaluates and analyzes inspection reports, location, risk, credit reports, and additional information to accept, decline, or renew an application. Utilizes and follows underwriting guidelines, rules, and standards. Determines appropriate premium rates and issues coverage. May assist with analysis of large accounts. Ensures compliance with all industry and governmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). Typically reports to a manager. Supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes. |
