| Requirements and Responsibilities For Underwriting Manager - P&C |
| Manages the team responsible for reviewing and analyzing property and casualty (P&C) insurance applications. Monitors the evaluation and analysis of inspection reports, location, risk, credit reports, and additional information to accept, decline, or renew an application. Ensures all underwriting guidelines, rules, and standards are being followed. Determines appropriate premium rates and issues coverage. Provides assistance on more complex applications. Ensures compliance with all industry and governmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). Typically reports to a director. Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes. |
