| Requirements and Responsibilities For Managed Care Pharmacy Director |
| Responsible for directing and overseeing medication utilization, formulary management, and ensuring cost-effective services for a network of managed care pharmacies. Monitors and analyzes pharmacy utilization trends and identifies opportunities for cost savings and improved patient outcomes. Collaborates with healthcare stakeholders to implement and improve pharmacy benefit programs. Responsible for designing reimbursement processes and procedures. Typically requires a doctorate degree in pharmacy. May require applicable license and/or certification. Typically reports to senior management. Manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. |
