| Requirements and Responsibilities For Underwriting Director - P&C |
| Directs the team responsible for reviewing and analyzing property and casualty (P&C) insurance applications. Monitors the evaluation and analysis of inspection reports, location, risk, credit reports, and additional information to accept, decline, or renew an application. Develops and implements guidelines and procedures regarding risk exposure, application renewal, acceptance, modification, and denial. Provides assistance on more complex applications. Ensures compliance with all industry and governmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). Typically reports to senior management. Manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. |
