Requirements and Responsibilities For VP of Drug Safety Assessment
Leads the organization's global drug safety assessment and pharmacovigilance function to ensure comprehensive oversight of product safety, regulatory compliance, and patient risk management strategies. Establishes enterprise-wide pharmacovigilance vision, policies, and governance frameworks supporting investigational and marketed products across global markets. Directs safety surveillance, signal management, benefit-risk evaluation, aggregate reporting, and crisis response activities in alignment with regulatory obligations and corporate objectives. Advises executive leadership on critical safety matters, regulatory risks, inspection readiness, and strategic product safety decisions. Represents the organization in interactions with regulatory authorities, business partners, and external stakeholders regarding pharmacovigilance and product safety. Drives organizational excellence through leadership of safety operations, quality systems, technology initiatives, talent development, and continuous process improvement programs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. Manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. Typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience. Comprehensive knowledge of the overall departmental function.
