Requirements and Responsibilities For Merchandise Planning Manager
Manages the planning and forecasting for future merchandise buys based on historical buys, reoccurring buys, and current inventory levels. Establishes systematic methods and tools to monitor stock-to-sale ratios and sales trend data to develop forecasts by product category, line, brand, and locations. Incorporates financial reporting and budget requirements into merchandise plans and recommendations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes.
